St John the Baptist Kingston Lisle - Restoration Update No.22

on Tue, 17/04/2018 - 12:38pm

News from St John the Baptist Kingston Lisle

Dear Kingston Lisle Church Restoration Supporter

Please find attached our 22nd restoration update, as we await the diocesan meeting on 14th May which we hope will approve our new pipe organ proposal. We aim to restore, enhance and recase a 1972 Walker organ taken from a church in London. This is being reconfigured specifically for the the small space and budget available. We have less than £7,000 to raise of the £33,000 cost (a brand new organ would be in excess of £100,000) following our £400,000 restoration.

In case you missed it last time, please also see a link to the Taylor Review into sustaining England’s 16,000 churches and cathedrals, published in December. We were honoured to present our project to the committee, which included senior figures from the Church of England, the Department of Culture, the National Lottery and the National Trust, chaired by Sir Bernard Taylor.
