Dear Friends,

As we move into summer and the easing of restrictions, our churches once again are open for worship. It has been hard to see buildings that have absorbed centuries of prayer and praise closed and a joy to see these ancient buildings coming to life and to look forward to summer weddings and other celebrations.   But this time has also been a time for the church to look outwards, to be creative, to engage with our communities in ways that may otherwise have not been considered and we must not lose this as we move out of lockdown.

Precious as our church buildings may be, this has been a time to remember that the Church is about relationships, about an outward expression of God’s love for his people and, as we can once again welcome friends to our homes, let us remember also the words of St Paul: "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." (Hebrews 13:2).  Let’s welcome our friends, but also those we may not know so well, to share our hospitality, not only in our lovely Ridgeway churches but wherever we may meet.
