Dear Friends,

June is traditionally the month when the communities of the Ridgeway Benefice come together to enjoy gardens, flower festivals, cream teas and concerts. These events are not only joyful occasions but also ones that raise valuable funds for the fabric and mission of the six churches in the Benefice. Sadly this year, all these events have had to be cancelled while we wait for the current restrictions to be lifted. However although our communities are not able to come together in our usual ways, this has certainly been a time when the community spirit of our Ridgeway villages has flourished.

Hebrews 13:2 tells us: ‘Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.’ During these unusual times, we have certainly seen many instances of friendship and caring, often by and to those who may not have been known to each other previously. These new relationships in our community are to be celebrated, even if we are unable to gather together for our usual Church services or fundraising events.
