Letcombe Film Club - The Death of Stalin (15)

December Film Club: The Death of Stalin (15) -  Wednesday 12 December

We had a great turnout for Darkest Hour, a big thanks to all who came to see an excellent film. The political theme continues for our December film, but this time it’s a comedy - “The Death of Stalin”.   Although it doesn’t exactly sound like fun, it is critically acclaimed as a hilarious and irreverent  black comedy which did very well at the Box Office when it was released last year. It was written and directed by Armando Iannucci, the Scottish Author and comedian who has written several successful political satires including “The Thick of It”.  Set in the months after Stalin’s death in 1953 and the plot focuses on the brutal power struggle that followed.

You will recognise many famous British actors among the cast - Michael Palin, Rupert Friend, Jason Isaacs, Paul Whitehouse and Simon Russell Beale  to mention a few. Interestingly the film has been banned in Russia!

Come early and enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, as it’s nearly Christmas! Door open 7pm, film starts at 8pm.
