Faringdon, Wantage & Grove residents offered a Safe Place to go when in difficulty

on Wed, 23/10/2019 - 8:00pm

People in Faringdon, Wantage and Grove who are feeling confused, anxious, abused or harassed can seek out a Safe Place where staff are prepared to offer assistance and safety.

Safe Places are clearly identified by a distinctive logo displayed in their window.

So far, sixteen locations across the two towns have signed up to the scheme, including Faringdon and Wantage Leisure Centres. A full list of Safe Places can be found at safeplaces.org.uk/member-schemes (click). The scheme is also available in Abingdon, where there are ten safe places, including the White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre.

Individuals who are unable to communicate to staff can carry a card that provides contact details of a relative or carer who can be called for advice.

For more information about the scheme, to request a contact card or to register your business as a safe place, please contact Vale of White Horse District Council’s Community Safety Team at [email protected] or call 01235 422590.

The Safe Places scheme is supported by the South and Vale Community Safety Partnership, Oxfordshire Family Support Network, Age UK Oxfordshire and the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
