Covid19 symptoms in school age children are different to adults

Over the next couple of weeks almost all children in the UK will be back to school. But the pandemic hasn’t ended, and we are far from having a complete understanding of how this virus works, including how it is transmitted and how it affects younger people.

On the BBC's 'Inside Science Podcast', professor Tim Spector of Kings College explains that Covid19 symptoms for school age children are different to those for adults.

The top 5 Covid19 symptoms for school age children are:-

  1. Headache
  2. Fatigue
  3. Fever
  4. Sore throat
  5. Skipping meals

Diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal cramps in children could be a sign of coronavirus infection, UK researchers say.

The Queen's University Belfast team have been studying children and say this may be worth adding to the checklist of symptoms.
