Christmas hampers for those struggling financially during the current crisis

on Tue, 03/11/2020 - 5:58pm

Alongside three other local groups (Wantage and Grove Foodbank, The Ray Collins Charitable Trust, and Wantage Independent Advice Centre), Sustainable Wantage will be spreading festive cheer by distributing Christmas hampers to residents struggling financially during the current crisis.

Denise Townsend from the foodbank said "After such a challenging year, when we have dealt with more referrals than ever before, and with the prospect of a difficult winter ahead, we want to show those in need some extra love and care. That’s why we are so delighted to be partnering with other local groups to run this joint scheme.”

Ray Collins added “These hampers will be especially important this year with some individuals facing the prospect of redundancy for the first time in their working lives. The current restrictions can also increase people’s feelings of loneliness and isolation. We have always believed amazing things can be achieved when we are all in this together and this year has brought us together like no other.”
