Childrey Stores, a space technology company and a wood recycling firm are among finalists for the nine prizes at the inaugural Vale4Business (V4B) awards.

Childrey Stores has been nominated in both the 'New Business' and 'Small Business' categories.

The awards highlight and celebrate the magnificent work businesses of all sizes achieve in the local area and are organised by Vale of White Horse District Council's Economic Development team.

Councillor Mike Murray, Cabinet Member for regeneration, economic development, and property, said: “We have been delighted by the response and calibre of nominations from local businesses – it demonstrates the excellent quality of businesses in the Vale.  Not only will the awards promote the achievements of local enterprises, we hope they’ll also encourage other entrepreneurs to set up their small businesses.”

The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony hosted by BBC Presenter and former Winter Olympian, Graham Bell at Williams F1 Conference Centre on 18 May.

A full list of the finalists of each award and details of how to obtain tickets for the awards ceremony can be found at www.vale4business.com/v4bawards (click).
