B4001 New Road (Childrey) - Proposed 40mph speed limit - Have your say

on Tue, 27/07/2021 - 2:11pm

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to introduce a 40mph speed limit (in place of the existing national speed limit) on the B4001 and Pulpit Hill, Childrey. The proposals are being put forward as a result of road safety concerns that have been raised:

  • to introduce a 40mph speed limit  in place of the existing national speed limit, on the B4001 New Road  from its junction with the A417 Faringdon Road (partly in the parish of West Challow) southwards, then eastwards on the unnamed B4001 to a point 268 metres west of its junction with Church Row, Childrey,
  • to introduce a 40mph speed limit in place of the existing national speed limit, on Pulpit Hill (road towards Sparsholt) from its junction with the B4001, westwards to a point 90 metres east of its junction with Eastmanton Lane, Sparsholt.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: JaC/12.6.162) to the address below by 13 August 2021. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting in September 2021. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.

Personally, I think the B4507 between Wantage and Ashbury is more in need of a 40mph speed limit.
