Road from Hell: A420 and plans ahead - a note from Cllr Yvonne Constance

on Mon, 21/12/2020 - 6:13pm

Loss of A420 as a ‘local road’

Our MP did us all a favour in mid-November when he used an Adjournment Debate in House of Commons to speak directly to the Transport Minister about the A420 and the A34.    He described them as ‘roads from hell’ reporting that drivers avoid them because there are so many accidents. The Minister has agreed to hear more details which could be very helpful.

The A34 is a national route managed by Highways England, andA420 is a ‘local road’ managed by the County Council, who are very aware of the huge increase in traffic ( especially freight traffic) and the

Wantage & Grove Campaign Group December '20 Update, inc Wantage planning

on Fri, 11/12/2020 - 6:38pm

An update from Julie Mabberley, Campaign Manager at the Wantage and Grove Campaign Group.

Dear All,

Another month has gone past and we really hadn't noticed! Christmas is nearly here and as usual it always seems like an opportunity for developers to try a squeeze in applications while we are too busy to notice!

The main one this year is the final patch in Grove which doesn't already have outline permission. This only came in today so we haven't had time to update our website yet but it is available on the White Horse District Council website as application P20/V3113/O. This is an

Royal Mail 'you have a parcel' email & text scam

on Sat, 05/12/2020 - 5:48pm

With more people relying on online shopping and parcel deliveries, the 'you have a parcel' scam is back again.

The Scam:

The scam involves recipients receiving either a text message or an email that appears to be from Royal Mail.

The message states that there was an attempt to deliver a parcel made, and you are instructed to click a link in order to reschedule the delivery.

The link will then direct you to an authentic looking website, which asks for your full name, address, date of birth and mobile number.

Once you’ve completed this form, you’ll then be prompted to enter your card

David Johnston MP - Newsletter, December 2020

on Fri, 04/12/2020 - 11:47am

I hope you, your friends and your family continue to be safe and well.

I was naturally disappointed that the whole county of Oxfordshire has been put into Tier 2. I know the impact this will have on families and on local businesses, particularly some of our pubs. But we now have great news in being the first country to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for use, starting next week, and if cases continue to fall in the county I am hopeful that we will be put back into Tier 1 as soon as possible.

I am at least glad that we will be able to see our families over Christmas and I hope you have
