In a priority group but not yet had your vaccination?

on Wed, 03/03/2021 - 6:34pm

People in the priority groups for the COVID-19 vaccine who have yet to respond to their invitation for a first dose are to be the focus of a new scheme set up by Oxfordshire councils, the NHS and GPs.

The service is launching this week to help support those people if they want to have the jab. There are a range of reasons why people may have not arranged a vaccination – from difficulties in booking an appointment or arranging transport, to hesitancy or misunderstandings about the vaccine.

Outreach workers from the community hub teams of the city and district councils across the county will

Childrey Stores is for sale

on Tue, 02/03/2021 - 10:34am

Almost 4 years to the day we bought a tired, old shop in need of a revamp and new energy.

We are so proud of the business we have created and have loved running it. It has been an amazing and rewarding journey.

However nothing ever stands still and we are looking forward to new adventures. So we have decided to pass the baton on and put the shop up for sale.

We thank all the Childrey residents for your generosity and incredible support and all our customers for helping us along the way.

We remain open as usual of course and look forward to continuing to welcome you.

If you haven’t done so yet, please consider completing my Grove Station survey by 12pm on 1st March – it takes just a couple of minutes and is designed to show the Government there is local support for my campaign to reopen it.

I am very pleased the Government has published the Roadmap for the removal of all restrictions by 21st June as long as we keep making progress with infection rates and the vaccine roll-out.

David Johnston MP said "Now is the chance for local residents to show the Government how keen they are to see it happen."

"I have been campaigning for this since I was elected as your MP – talking about it regularly in the House of Commons and to transport ministers – and one of the criteria the Government uses for deciding to reopen stations/lines is whether or not it would be popular locally and people would actually use it."

Covid19 self-isolation - when and what to do

on Tue, 23/02/2021 - 4:07pm

Supporting you to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community

Thank you for self-isolating. By doing this you are helping to protect other people from COVID-19.

If you’ve been asked to self-isolate it is because you could be at risk of spreading the virus to others. If you are feeling well, it’s still important to self-isolate as you can still pass on the virus before you have symptoms. Please remember it is a legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive or are told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace. You could be fined if you do not self-isolate.

We know self-isolating can

Wantage Beacon is now a location for COVID-19 symptom-free testing

on Tue, 23/02/2021 - 4:01pm

From 23 February The Beacon in Wantage will become a Covid-19 testing site for public-facing workers and volunteers who are not displaying symptoms.

People in these roles who cannot work from home and do not have access to workplace testing will be able to book a weekly test at the centre. Tests take only 15 minutes with results available within an hour.

Around 1 in 3 people with Covid-19 have no symptoms but can still pass it on and so regular testing of public-facing workers will help to stop the spread of the virus.

The 15-minute test being used is a lateral flow test which involves
