Present: Councillors Barnes, Comyn, Jacobs and Jones, DC Barrow, the Clerk and 2 parishioner households.  Cllr Corfield apologised for being late and joined at 8.00pm.

Workplace testing

Businesses of any size can sign up to the government’s free coronavirus workplace testing programme, which provides free lateral flow tests for employees who cannot work from home. Previously this scheme was only open to businesses with 50 or more employees, but as of 6 March this scheme is available to all businesses.

Please register your interest by 31 March to benefit from free tests until the end of June. You can find out more and register at www.gov.uk/get-workplace-coronavirus-tests.

Have you got your census letter? Census day is Sunday, 21st March 2021

Census day is almost here – stand up and be counted.

Households across Oxfordshire are being asked to take part in Census 2021, a national survey that takes place once every ten years.

Census day is on March 21, and households have started receiving letters with online codes explaining how they can complete their forms. If you don’t get one in the next week, or need some more help or information, please visit census.gov.uk or call the census contact centre on 0800 141 2021.

Residents can also request a paper questionnaire if they would prefer to complete their census that way.

COVID-19 rates across Oxfordshire

The number of positive cases in Oxfordshire overall is continuing to decline - and the rates in both the Vale and South Oxfordshire have again gone down this week so across the board we appear to be heading in the right direction.

Older Drivers Webinar - Thursday, 25th March - 10.30am to 12pm

Thames Valley Police are working in partnership with The Older Drivers Forum to run a free webinar aimed at helping and advising older drivers, as well as their families and friends, on using the roads safely in order to drive safer for longer.

We know that older motorists have a wealth of experience, confidence and tolerance. However, sight, hearing, reaction time and judgement of speed and distance may not be as sharp as it once was. The Older Drivers Forum is about keeping mature motorists on the road safely for longer.

Latest news from The Mix in Wantage - including laptops and community fridge

The team at The Mix have refurbished and rehomed no fewer than 241 laptops, 15 tablets and 5 desktops since 4th Jan and they're now collecting again. If you have an old or unused laptop their IT volunteers could refurbish for someone to use, please drop it off at The Mix. They'll have a collection box on their doorstep Tues - Fri 9am - 12 noon. Sustainable Wantage would like to learn more about our gardens and outdoor spaces

As part of their Wild Wantage project, Sustainable Wantage would like to know more about your gardens, balconies and allotments.

Their goal is to support people in improving the value of their outdoor space for wildlife, to boost biodiversity and to help make Wantage a healthier and more beautiful place to live.

Gardens make up a massive area of green space and can act as a refuge for many species. In Wantage the amphibian population is almost exclusively supported by ponds in people’s gardens!

Councils looking into the possibility of a joint South and Vale Local Plan

The two district councils in South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse are looking into the possibility of developing a joint Local Plan for the area to significantly reduce costs and help the councils meet their ambitious targets for making the two districts carbon neutral.

Local Plans are used to help determine planning applications and set out how and where new housing developments should take place, along with identifying the infrastructure needed to support them.
