Road Safety in Westcot

on Thu, 13/10/2011 - 10:37am

Parish Plan – Follow up from responses to questionnaire: Road Safety in Sparsholt and Westcot

Dear Neighbour,

I am writing on behalf of the 'Road Working Group' to canvas your views on speeding.   We need to consider:

  1. Is speeding a problem in Westcot?
  2. Are the locations of the existing 30 mph speed limits adequate?   Is 30 mph appropriate?
  3. Is there a need for traffic calming measures?
  4. Is there a need for improvement in the position and clarity of signs for priorities at road junctions?
  5. Any other views you may have.

We shall be very grateful for any help you can give us.

The Vale and Downland Museum - Update

on Fri, 30/09/2011 - 12:00pm

Representatives of local councils were invited to an open evening at the museum earlier this summer to increase awareness in local communities to the changes being thrust upon the Museum Trust. The museum is in the position of having to build an archive store/reference library, workshop and kitchen, including a lift for disabled access to the first floor, starting the works in early 2011 because they are housed in the adjoining 18th Century Legge’s Cottage that is leased. The lease ends in 2012. Planning permission to build replacement accommodation has been granted.

Reverend Alan Wadge

on Wed, 07/09/2011 - 3:11pm

Sunday 28th August was the last service that the Reverend Alan Wadge took at Sparsholt as he has now retired. This final service was very well attended and afterwards there was a party for him at Sparsholt House. Money had been raised for him and he was presented with a silver salver which was engraved with a picture of the church.

Alan has been our Rector for twenty years and has always been a good friend to our community and to us all as individuals. The process has now started for the appointment of a new incumbent but it is anticipated that this will take at least nine months.

Alan and
